How to use this guide

Method, stated up front, so the rest can be taken at face value.

The handle came first. Alpha, Bravo, Echo, Tango spells A-B-E-T over a radio: his name, already catalogued, already sitting inside a system built for being understood clearly at a distance. Everything here follows from that.

This guide was compiled from firsthand observation and photographic record. Nothing in it was asked of the subject, who does not know it exists. Where a claim is made, a photograph supports it. Where no photograph exists, no claim is made.

A field guide takes its subject seriously. It measures, it labels, it cross-references, and it does not wink. That is the whole of the method and most of the affection.

Identification

The specimen entry.

Medium build, full beard, glasses, permanently mid-sentence. Identifiable at distance by volume and at close range by the shirt, which is usually saying something.

Most reliably located near a griddle, a start line, or a vehicle that is louder than it needs to be.

A resting posture recurs across the record: hat, cigar, as little clothing as the setting permits. It has been documented on a lawn in Ohio and on a stony shoreline several hundred miles from one. Three separate sightings is a pattern rather than a coincidence.

He has a wife and two daughters.

Competitive and domestic, recorded together.

On 20 September 2025 he entered the FriendShip Famous Chicken Tender Takedown and won it. First place, one thousand dollars, and a gold chicken. The check is reproduced below, because a claim like that should arrive with the check attached.

Away from competition the behavior is identical at lower intensity. A flat-top griddle on the back deck. A festival slice carried at arm’s length like evidence. Two burritos, held simultaneously, with no apparent plan to save either.

Where the specimen goes when unobserved.

The Jeep is a yellow Gladiator Rubicon and it is not subtle. It has been photographed mid-creek on an autumn afternoon, parked in deep snow, lit from underneath at night, at a show with a rubber duck on the hood, and once alongside the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile: the only recorded instance of it being the second most conspicuous vehicle present.

The garden appears exactly once in the entire photographic record. Draw from that what you like.

Personal Bests

Played completely straight, because the clock is in the frame.

He runs 5Ks. On 25 April 2026 he crossed the line at the Savage 5K in Toledo wearing bib 7109, with the clock overhead reading 27:59. That is gun time, which is the honest number to publish, because it is the number in the photograph.

He has also been carried bodily across a finish area by another grown man. The official results do not record this.
